TEDxMAIS

Having been in this school for 13 years now, TEDxMAIS is something that I am deeply passionate about, as it is the one event we have had every single year for the past 10 years, no matter the circumstances. Therefore, when given the opportunity, I knew I had to apply to be a part of this event. One of the two 10th graders selected amongst a team of 11th and 12th graders, my first year on the speaker management team was truly remarkable! The second year, I was given the honour of being selected as the lead organiser, and we pulled off our 2nd successful online event with 150+ attendees! My third year in TEDx, I am head of the speaker management team. I can't wait to experience an in-person event in January of 2023!

The name ‘TEDxMAIS’ has become synonymous with our school’s culture, holding an inextricable meaning throughout our entire school community. For the past decade, speakers of previous TEDxMAIS events have left a mark on the crowd with their influential ideas. The name has forged a connection between the TED philosophy of “ideas worth spreading” and the essence of our educational experience.

An eagerly-anticipated event, whether in-house or online, TEDxMAIS is an integral part of our school’s calendar. TEDxMAIS is normally hosted on the campus of Mallya Aditi International School. Since 2011, the event has been set in the amphitheatre, owing to a tradition of sorts. Set against the luminous night sky and lush green trees, the semi-circular seating allows for the perfect atmosphere to foster deep conversations, ponder ideas and learn new things.

Although the January 2021 and 2022 event, marking the 10th and 11th anniversaries of TEDxMAIS respectively, were forced to be held virtually in lieu of the pandemic, they were still a blazing success.
